Victoria, BC – A fundraiser for Victoria’s Tam Kung Temple this September, seeks to support sorely needed repairs for the oldest Chinese temple in Canada. The Victoria Chinatown Lioness Lions Club will be hosting an 8-course dinner at Don Mee on September 23, with individual tickets priced at $88 and tables of 10 priced at $800. All proceeds will go towards funding the repairs of the temple building, which also houses the Yen Wo Society.

As the CBC reported in May, the temple, which honours Tam Kung (譚公) a sea deity with special importance to Hakka people worldwide, requires over $600,000 in repairs for the 111-year old building, and is otherwise at risk of closing.
